Long known as the place to save money and live better, Walmart recently announced a new agreement with Ibotta that will further deliver on the slogan’s promise. The agreement with Ibotta, a cash back rewards platform, is slated to add hundreds of cash rebates for popular products on walmart.com and in the Walmart app.
Janey Whiteside, executive vice president and chief customer officer, Walmart U.S., stated:
The partnership is a win-win. We’re able to find new and exciting ways to help customers save even more with Walmart, all while propelling our business forward, driving loyalty and creating new ways for us to engage suppliers.
The new agreement expands upon a relationship which began in 2018, now with the added ability to earn cash rebates on top of the savings received through regularly occurring deals. Walmart states that the expansion also boasts multiple ways for the cash back to be redeemed. Rebates and cash can be redeemed directly to customers' Walmart accounts where they can be used for future purchases, applied toward a Walmart+ membership, and even used for grocery delivery.
The Ibotta Performance Network
In addition to the cash back features being implemented, Walmart has announced a new integration with the Ibotta Performance Network (IPN). The IPN is a place where cash rebates can be delivered across large third-party sites like social media networks, cooking sites, and various other platforms. Customers can now receive offers on relevant products based on what they are viewing at the time, which can then be seamlessly added to their Walmart digital cart to purchase online or in-store.
